What do family vacations, the great outdoors, and Stevie Wonder have in common? All three are essential ingredients of Woodloch’s first ever “Motown Night!”
Starting July 12th, we will be taking the fun outside as Woodloch pays tribute to the great music of the Motown genre. This is a good change of pace for our guests. While our outdoor festivals in the past have been a little more “chill” in nature (i.e. channeling your inner hippie during our Woodrock Fest or getting alternative with Woodlochapalooza 2011), our newest party is going to get you up, out and on the dancefloor.
For those unaware, the Motown record label was founded in Detroit (the MOTOR city, hence the name) by Berry Gordy in 1959. Artists like The Jackson 5, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, and the Temptations were just a few of the performers that helped give Motown 110 hits from 1961 to 1971. Needless to say, America was in love. The soulful lyrics and bouncy energy made the music perfect for the masses.
We are very lucky to have the great music of Pocono Blues and Jazz highlighting this year’s party. They are ready to put on a great show for our guests Thursday nights throughout the summer. The question is: are you ready to party with them?
Woodloch’s “Salute to Motown” will run from July 12th – August 23rd.
