Explore the Poconos on a Kayaking Excursion

Two women kayaking in the Poconos.

For a breathtaking vacation destination filled with endless adventure, look no further than the Poconos and Woodloch. Known as one of the best family resorts in the Pocono Mountains, our waterfront property is filled with countless things to do. We’re also close to some of the best things to do in the region. If you’re looking for a fun way to explore the beauty of the Poconos, set off on a kayaking expedition.

Where to Go Paddling in the Poconos

You have several options, including guided tours, for where to go kayaking when staying at our Poconos resort. In fact, guests at both Woodloch and The Lodge at Woodloch can go kayaking on our private lakes!

  • Lake Wallenpaupack is only about 30 minutes away. If you’re looking to explore part of the 5,700-acre lake, we recommend stopping by Poconos Action Sports, which offers single and tandem kayak rentals.
  • One of the most popular options is the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. The best service for those looking to explore this body of water is Kittatinny Canoes – Barryville Base. Their unguided Delaware River trip includes all the necessary equipment.
  • Another option for those looking to explore the Delaware River Valley is Lander’s River Trips. Set off on a single or tandem kayak on a paddle trip lasting between two and five hours.
  • Northwest Wilderness Experience offers both guided outings and rentals for those looking to captain their own excursions. Kayak rental includes a life jacket and paddle; shuttles and deliveries are available for an additional fee.
  • If you’re hoping to explore the river that passes through the Delaware Water Gap National Area, check out Edge of the Wood Outfitters. Choose from a single, tandem, or inflatable kayak. Kids between 3 and 12 are only half-price, making this a great option for families.

Stay at a Premier Poconos Resort

One of the best things about booking your vacation at Woodloch is the variety of activities available to our guests. From kayaking on a Poconos waterway to enjoying some of our more than 30 daily activities and events, there’s no shortage of things to do.

Another perk of staying at our Poconos resort is we take all the hassle of planning off your shoulders. We’ve designed our all-inclusive experience to cover your lodging, dining, and adventure needs. To learn more about what is included, call 570-685-8000.

The Best Things to Do in the Poconos for Adults on Vacation

A group of people golfing, one of the best things to do in the Poconos for adults.

When you think of an adults-only vacation, you probably think of a trip for two or a bachelor/bachelorette party. However, these types of getaways are also ideal for groups of friends. If you’re planning an adults-only escape, book your stay at The Lodge at Woodloch, Woodloch’s sister resort.

Because our Poconos resort is only open to those ages 16 and older, it is better suited for couples and other adult-only groups. Between the on-site activities and those found nearby, you and your friends will have plenty of things to do from sunrise to sunset.

What to Do in the Poconos on Your Kid-Free Getaway

  1. Enjoy a cold one at some of the best local breweries within an hour’s drive from the resort. Start at Wallenpaupack Brewing Company before moving on to Hopping Eagle Brewing Company or The Wake Zone.
  2. If you prefer a good glass of vino or a perfectly hand-crafted cocktail, reserve a spot at our Wine & Cocktail Tastings. Offered six days a week, an experienced sommelier will give you an in-depth look into the characteristics of wine and seasonal cocktails.
  3. Play a round of golf at Woodloch Springs. Recognized by Golf Digest as one of the “Best Places to Play,” the course features four sets of tees and is the perfect challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
  4. Check out our lineup of upcoming speakers and events. We work to bring inspirational and motivational speakers to our resort who’ll help guests gain a deeper understanding of health, healing, love, spirituality, and more.
  5. Spend a day wandering antique stores. This is a great option for guests who drive to our resort; just make sure you have room in your car for the treasures you’re sure to find. We recommend visiting The Loft Antiques, Miss Elly’s Antiques & Such, and Hawley Antique Exchange.

The Lodge at Woodloch | An Outstanding Poconos Resort

While The Lodge at Woodloch offers you a tranquil place to call home, that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do. Our Pennsylvania resort is near countless things to do in the Poconos for adults, including incredible on-site activities.

All of our rooms have a private veranda, perfect for watching a sunrise. We also offer several world-class dining options. To learn more about our Pocono Mountain resort, visit us online or call 570-685-8000. When you’re ready to book, our staff is here to help, or you can reserve your getaway online.
