Bigger Splashes than a Water Park in the Poconos

Anyone who has been to Woodloch Pines Resort in the Poconos knows that summer time means getting drenched. Whether it’s the suds tub in Double Dare or big splashes on our 30+ foot water slide into our private lake, Woodloch has enough water fun to trump the term water park . . . It’s more like a WATER WONDER WORLD!

Here are just a few of the water activities that you can expect to get soaked in:

  • A year-round indoor Kid’s Splash Zone complete with water guns, mini-slides, bubbles, fountains and everything the youngest in your group will love.

  • Newly renovated outdoor swimming pool complete with beautiful views, hot tub, our brand new outdoor tiki bar and grill!

  • Bumper boats provide all the fun of catching family and friends off guard while squirting them with water!

  • With so many docks to jump off of and so much sand to play in, our beach front makes for the perfect lake vacation! Activities available at our beach front include: kayaking, canoeing, sail boating, paddle boating, row boating, boat rides, and more!

  • Even on rainy days, you can splash around in our indoor heated pool complete with water basketball and a shallow end for new swimmers. Double the fun with our Splash Zone and Indoor Waterslide!

  • Get the entire group together on the outdoor pool deck, and relax in the foamy bubbles and soothing warmth of our new hot tub that can accommodate up to 14 people!

  • Spend a little time inside at our Pool and Sports Complex complete with Jacuzzi, hot tub, and saunas.

  • Also available at Woodloch Springs Golf Community, right down the road from Woodloch Pines, are indoor and outdoor pools, a kiddie pool, Jacuzzi, and two large steam rooms.

  • The Social Department also hosts a variety of water activities:
    • Water Slide Contest
    • Our messy and wet Double Dare complete with summertime splashes as you compete for medals
    • Woodloch Pool Games in which teams compete in six water contests in our outdoor/indoor pools!
    • Kids Water Fun Games: children’s games like hopscotch with a water twist!
    • And of course, on a hot day you never know which activities may contain squirt guns, water balloons, and other big splashes!

So when you’re trying to decide between Woodloch or the water park down the road, remember that an all-inclusive downpour of fun awaits you at one of the world’s best family resorts* . . . WOODLOCH!

Horseback Riding in the Poconos: Giddy Up! | Woodloch Resort

Giddy-Up! Horseback Riding in the Poconos

We’re not the least bit shy to let the world know that we’re proud Pennsylvanians. After all, Pennsylvania is the birthplace of “The Great American Chocolate Bar” as well as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. On top of that, we cannot speak highly enough of the state’s natural beauty. Clean lakes, bubbling streams, lush forests, and even open fields provide an excellent landscape for almost every outdoor activity imaginable . . . including horseback riding. While horseback riding in the Poconos isn’t quite as popular as hiking, fishing, and skiing, nothing surpasses a scenic, two-hour tour atop a majestic, well-trained horse.

Once Upon a Time: Pocono Horse Riding at Woodloch

Many moons ago, Woodloch Resort actually offered horseback riding in the Poconos right here on our expansive, 300-acre property. The horses were leased for the summer season and boarded right on campus. One of Woodloch’s owners, Steve Kiesendahl, who was just a young whipper-snapper at the time, taught our guests how to ride and led them all around the property on his pet horse, “Trigger.” Many great times were had, but the riding ended when Woodloch started to expand rapidly. Naturally, guests have inquired about the prospects of riding once again amidst the region’s sprawling mountain range.

Horseback Riding in the Poconos: A Special Experience

Our all-inclusive packages include an overnight accommodations, family-style dining, nightly live entertainment, and, of course, over 30 homegrown activities. But that shouldn’t deter you from taking a detour to Triple W Riding Stable before or after your stay for some of the most breathtaking horseback riding in the Poconos so that you can explore the glorious Pocono Mountains atop a beautiful horse this winter.

Horse Stables near Me: Triple W Riding Stable

The folks at Triple W Riding Stable have been guiding travelers and animal lovers through the serene Pocono Mountains for decades. With so much experience under their belts, they now offer three different types of tours that vary in length and location. Guided trips through dense forestry, wide-open hillsides, and secluded waterways range from one to two hours long. Although horseback riding in PA is strictly geared for ages seven and up, Triple W offers pony rides for little cowboys and girls. The accessibility from the resort makes it easy to include a stop at Triple W during your vacation, regardless of the season. So fasten your chaps, lace-up your boots, and be ready to explore the wild of Pennsylvania, the old-fashioned way! Of course, when you’re not on horseback in the Poconos, we recommend spending as much time as possible right here at our historic family resort.

Woodloch’s Petting Zoo and Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides

If you were to search online for “riding stables near me” during your next visit to the top-rated family resort in the U.S., you’d likely stumble upon Triple W. But don’t forget that we also provide a petting zoo and horse-drawn carriage rides right here at Woodloch Resort. To learn more about horseback trail riding in PA or our countless on-site amenities, please give us a call today at 1-800-966-3562.

Packing Tips for your Poconos Getaway

~Shared by Gina Spinelli

There are few things more nerve-wrecking than packing your bags for vacation. Nothing is worse than being hundreds of miles away from home and realizing you don’t have your toothbrush! You’re not alone. It is fairly common, in the rush to arrive at your vacation destination, to forget simple items like socks, sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen.

On the flip side, traveling with everything but the kitchen sink can also be a major inconvenience. It’s hard to fully appreciate the décor of your hotel accommodations when your luggage seems to have become furniture of its own. Overpacking not only cramps your style but also drags down the fuel efficiency of your vacation caravan (a whole other subject in itself).

Don’t you worry because logistics experts here at Woodloch’s research facilities can help you plan ahead. Here are 3 simple steps on how you can become a more efficient packer for your next stay at Woodloch.

1. First of all, check the forecast. Before you start packing, try to find out what the weather is going to be like during your stay. If the forecast is calling for rain, you might be better off bringing your rain boots and umbrella instead of those sunglasses. Advanced forecasts are available on both Accuweather and The Weather Channel websites.

2.  Next, make a list. You are more likely not to forget an item, or overpack something that you really don’t need, if you plan out a list before packing. It is also a good idea to bring a spare list on the trip with you so that no items are forgotten when heading back home. Leave some room at the end of the list for items you may have picked up while vacationing that you don’t want to leave behind, especially Woodloch’s famous baked goods!

3.  Pack at the right moment. I can’t tell you how many times that I packed too soon and found myself having to take out items that I still needed in my everyday life and then forgot to put them back in my suitcase. You’re better off packing the night before your trip if you have the time, and then keep the items that you know you’re going to need in the morning such as your toothbrush and hair brush all in one spot so that you can grab them before you leave. Pack when you have some peace and quiet; the mind thinks more clearly when it is free from noise and distractions.

If you do the following and still forget an item, don’t panic. Woodloch has gift shops that have a variety of items so keep calm and relax. Happy packing, and enjoy your stay!

No Need to Fly- “The Woodloch Convenience”

Will our flights be on time? How much extra will I have to pay to check my bags? What are the new security restrictions on carry-ons? What are the size and weight limits again? Will we get the kids from one end of the airport to the other without any problems or stops along the way?

Between flight rules and restrictions and cramped quarters on planes, consumers are looking for less hassles and more convenient methods of travel. This often means staying closer to home, somewhere within driving distance.

Only two hours from New York City and three hours from Philadelphia, Woodloch is an easy and scenic trip from almost anywhere in the Northeast. You’ll be surprised at just how easy it is to get here.  Round trip, we’re less than a full tank of gas away from New York City! Why travel far when your best vacation value is so close to home?

Set on over 250 acres in the scenic Pocono Mountains, Woodloch Pines features its own private lake, mountain vistas, and expansive grounds which together serve as a playground for all kinds of fun!  With multi-generational activities, including a Broadway-style theme show and a variety of recreational activities and interactive games, Woodloch is often referred to as a “cruise on land.” Batting cages, bumper cars, arts and crafts, go carts, game rooms, horse racing, mini golf, trapshooting,  ice skating, boating,  zip lining . . . it’s all in one place!

No driving miles to get to the tennis courts or the pool. No need to load the car full of beach gear and then drive to the ocean. Just walk out of your room to the beach and lake; towels are waiting for you on the chairs! No need to pack equipment either. We provide you with all the gear you need, whether it be for snow tubing in the winter or waterskiing in the summer.

And the options don’t stop there! Woodloch truly has something for everyone. Just down the road at Woodloch Springs is our award-winning, 18-hole, championship golf course.  Or if you prefer the ultimate in rest and relaxation, head to The Lodge at Woodloch, voted one of the best destination spas in the world by Travel + Leisure.

One place. One price. Endless options!
