Woodloch is home to both a one-mile path and three miles worth of hiking paths. For guests at The Lodge at Wooodloch, spend time exploring the over six miles of trails found on the resort’s grounds.

While there’s exceptional hiking found at our resorts, several places nearby are known for their hiking trails. Go for a stroll along the 2.2-mile Cobey Pond Trail or the 4.2-mile Blooming Grove Blue Toop Trail. For incredible views, wander the 2.8-mile Shuman Blue Lopp trail found inside the Shuman Point Natural Area.

A Guide to Biking

Another fun outing is biking. This region of the Poconos is perfect for both leisurely biking and mountain biking. One of the best spots for the latter is the Delaware State Forest. This popular natural attraction is a great day trip from our resort, and mountain bikes may be used on all roads and most trails. Biking is also a great way to explore the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

A Unique Trail Outing

Exploring area trails doesn’t have to mean you work up a sweat. Discover exceptional distilleries, wineries, and breweries along the Pocono Beverage Trail. Numerous Poconos businesses are included on the trail, which means several places are perfect for guests at our Poconos resorts.

A Guide to Exploring Downtown Hawley, Pennsylvania

A little girl at the candy store in downtown Hawley, Pennsylvania.

Sometimes, unforgettable vacation destinations are closer than you think. If you’re someone who calls New York City or Philadelphia, the charming town of Hawley, Pennsylvania, is only a couple hours away. If you’re planning a trip to this picturesque town, there’s no better place to stay than Woodloch. On your next stay at our Poconos resort, spend time wandering downtown Hawley and seeing what fun you can find.

What to Do and See in Downtown Hawley

If you visited downtown before 2014, things look a little bit different. The area got a makeover courtesy of Benjamin Moore’s Main Street Matters Project, which helped repaint more than 20 local businesses.

Things to Do & See

There’s certainly no shortage of places to visit downtown that appeal to a wide range of interests. With its community-centric atmosphere, The Hawley Hub is home to numerous social gatherings and educational classes. It’s also home to a delicious coffee shop!

Depart on unforgettable adventures from the Hawley Train Station on an outing with Pennsylvania Rail Bike. Routes span 10 to 20 miles along the Lackawaxen River. Enjoy unbeatable views as you ride along the tracks named after Irad Hawley.

Give yourself plenty of time to wander in and out of local shops. This includes seeing what you can find in WeJo Arts, like hand-painted furniture, home decor, jewelry, and more. No trip to downtown is complete without stocking up on sweet treats at Penny Lane Candies & Candles.

Discover Local Events

Downtown is home to several popular area events. Celebrate the holiday season with Hawley Winterfest or the Winterfest Beer Tour. There’s also Last Saturdays, which is known for its street-fair atmosphere. Check the town’s calendar of events to see what’s happening during your visit.

Restaurants to Try

Before heading back to the resort, enjoy a delicious meal at one of the restaurants in Hawley. Browse the menu at The Crazy Country Club or dine at Joe & Lorenzo’s Restaurant, which has been around since 1981. We also recommend visiting Hopping Eagle Brewing Company, found just outside of downtown on Silk Mill Drive, for a cold beer.

Make Woodloch Your Poconos Home Away from Home

Found roughly 15 minutes outside downtown Hawley, Pennsylvania, Woodloch is close to all the activities and attractions that make this region so memorable. Our incredible all-inclusive experiences, which include cozy accommodations and dining plans, take the guesswork and heavy lifting off your shoulders. As you start planning your visit, be sure to take a look at our special offers and packages for ways to save. For more information, call 570-685-8000.

What to Do in the Poconos on a Summer Getaway

A kid on a bumper boat, one of the best finds when researching what to do in the Poconos in the summer.

There’s nothing better than leaving the stress of everyday life behind for an unforgettable summer family vacation. If you’re still planning this year’s getaway, look no further than Woodloch. For over six decades, we have had the pleasure of hosting families of all sizes. As you start researching what to do in the Poconos on your summer visit, it won’t take long to realize the possibilities are endless.

A Checklist of 9 Things to Do in the Poconos in the Summer

On average, summer in Hawley and the surrounding area is nothing short of idyllic. Daily highs sit around the mid-70s, so we recommend spending as much time outdoors as possible.

  1. Enjoy some family-friendly competition by signing up for the Summer Olympics. The relay-style games change yearly, which means there’s always something new to try.
  2. Bumper boats take the fun of bumper cars up another notch. Use your hydro cannon to soak your “opponents.” or try and splash them with your boat.
  3. See how long you can stay upright when you go water skiing. Available to guests 13 and up on select dates, this is a fun way to explore Lake Teedyuskung.
  4. Spend a day at  Promised Land State Park. This spot is home to miles of hiking trails, the Masker Museum, and prime kayaking waters.
  5. Cool off with ice cream from Harry’s Lakeside Scoops. If you find yourself craving something sweet as you’re out exploring, stop by one of the spots in town like Dairy Twist or Gresham’s Ice Cream Shoppe.
  6. If you are staying with us towards the end of August, visit Wally Lake Fest. The three-day festival includes a farmers market, scenic boat tours, and more.
  7. Hike to area waterfalls like Little Falls in Promised Land State Park or Bushkill Falls. These natural attractions are known for breathtaking views, making the perfect backdrop for family photos.
  8. Combine hanging out in our pool with some competition by signing up for the pool games. You and your team will work through six aquatic challenges as you try to earn the Woodloch medal.
  9. Another popular summer game is the Amazing Race. Teams of up to eight compete to win this game that combines search lists, physical challenges, and puzzles.

A Checklist of Free Things to Do in the Poconos

People riding go karts, one of the free things to do in the Poconos for guests at Woodloch.

Going on the vacation of a lifetime can be expensive. Between getting there, whether via car or airplane, dining out, and finding things to do, the cost can add up. However, a great way to save without sacrificing fun is by staying at an all-inclusive resort like Woodloch. This gives you access to countless activities. Staying at our resort also means you’re close to numerous other free things to do in the Poconos.

What to Do at Our Resort in the Poconos

Part of our all-inclusive packages includes access to over 30 daily activities. While some of these things require an additional fee, many are included in your stay. This includes activities like:

  • Saying hello to the animals at our petting zoo
  • Seeing if you can solve the puzzles and find all the items in our scavenger hunt

Other Things to Do in the Poconos

While you’ll never run out of things to do at Woodloch that are included in our stay, there are also plenty of free or inexpensive things to do throughout the Poconos.

  • Spend time exploring the Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River. Unlike other national parks, this site does not require an entrance pass. Give yourself plenty of time to explore the Zane Grey Museum or check out the Roebling Bridge.
  • See what you can find at a local farmers market. The best thing about visiting markets like the Wayne County Farmers’ Market or Hawley Farmers’ Market is you can control how much you spend.
  • Lace up your hiking boots and explore the Hawley Trail. This 5.5-mile trail starts at the D&H Canal Park and works its way toward Lake Wallenpaupack. Signs along the way teach you about the area’s history and ecology.
