Woodloch Springs: Your Home Away From Home | Woodloch Resort

Woodloch’s Blog

Keep up-to-date with all things Woodloch on our blog featuring exclusive recipes, heartwarming stories, lifestyle content, contests and more.

Whether you’ve been a lifelong fan of Woodloch, or you’ve yet to step foot on its secluded and forested campus, the concept of resort living at Woodloch is a desirable one.

What doesn’t sound wonderful about living within reach of a full-fledged family playground where amenities abound?

This is holds true whether you’re looking for the perfect retirement environment or a vacation home. Resort communities are designed to offer a long list of amenities, and at Woodloch those amenities are vast. When planning for a second home, a retirement home, or even a new community, prospective buyers are looking for at least one of three things; a significant water feature (access to beach or lake), golf and/or spa.

Woodloch has all three, in dramatic fashion no less.

Beautiful Woodloch Springs spans 500 acres and is home to a challenging yet inviting 18-hole, par 72 golf course named by GOLF Magazine as “one of the finest courses in America.” Golf Digest has named it as one of their “Best Places to Play” 27 years in a row. Just across the gates of the community rests The Lodge at Woodloch, a destination spa that Travel+Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler ranks in their top 10 destination spas, hotels and resorts worldwide – perennially – since its opening in 2006.

In terms of proximity to water, Lake Wallenpaupack is only 15 minutes down the road, and a membership to the Freedom Boat Club offers you access to a fleet of boats without the pains of owning one. Then, of course, there’s Lake Teedyuskyung, home to Woodloch Pines, one of the best family resorts in America, according to TripAdvisor.com, USA Today, and Family Vacation Critic. From zip-lining and go-karts to zany group games and world-class nightly entertainment, it’s truly a playground for all with endless opportunities for amusement and relaxation.

There are a variety of ownership offerings at Woodloch, like those at Woodloch Springs, a well-manicured home development with sprawling grounds that boast full-time spacious residences as well as more modest getaway townhomes.

Among the six small communities surrounding Woodloch, the four seasons ownership and quartershare are the most unique. Be it owning one week in each season or splitting a home with three other families and having 13 weeks of the year to enjoy the resort, the Vacation Rentals by Woodloch program offers a revenue- sharing model for homeowners. Woodloch manages and rents your property, shares the income with you, but you can still come and enjoy your home as you wish.

Well-cared for communities and an incredible bounty of amenities are just the beginning. The homeowner association is unlike any other. Landscaping, housekeeping, maintenance, and construction are all onsite to help owners with whatever their needs may be. With additional services on property such as 24/7 safety patrol, certified EMTs, and an ambulance company basically on property, safety and health needs are right at your fingertips.

As an added bonus, those interested in buying or touring Woodloch ownership properties can come and experience the resort firsthand with a special invitation from the real estate team. Thus, with natural resources, beautiful homes, an abundance of amenities, a wide range of services and great neighbors, home ownership at Woodloch is a great option for those in the market for a second home, fractional ownership, or even a new community for their family.

Best Poconos Resorts for Couples | 3 Tips for Golfing at Woodloch Resort

Woodloch’s Blog

Keep up-to-date with all things Woodloch on our blog featuring exclusive recipes, heartwarming stories, lifestyle content, contests and more.

3 Tips for Golfing at Woodloch

You’re only a scenic two-hour drive away from an unforgettable mountainside golf getaway at Woodloch Resort, one of the best Poconos resorts for couples. Golf is a game of inches. For most, it takes years of practice to master the art of the swing. The most important thing to remember when playing a round of golf at The Country Club at Woodloch Springs is to have fun! To make your Pennsylvania trip more enjoyable, we have some helpful tips to consider when traveling to breathtaking Woodloch.

Wear Suitable Golf Attire

Golf attire is unmistakable even if you’re not an avid golfer. Golfers don’t wear slick pants, comfy collared short tees, visors, sunglasses and spiked shoes for nothing. Each article plays a vital role in maximizing your level of play and comfort while keeping your body cool and protected from the sun. It’s recommended to wear golf pants and shoes. These pants are flexible and keep out moisture. The shoes have small spikes to keep you grounded when you’re bending, twisting and swinging. You’ll want to sport a dry-fit, breathable, collared short tee. Regular cotton on a hot day will stick to your body, limiting full motion. Sunglasses, visors, and sunscreen are a must on sunny days as spending 4-6 hours in the sun can be straining on your retinas and skin.

Bring the Essentials

Now that you’re dressed for success let’s discuss what to bring along. Bringing the right attitude is #1. Golf is a challenging game. It can take a toll on both the body and mind. Be prepared to miss a short putt, shank a chip shot, and duff a drive—this is normal; we’re not on the PGA Tour. Remember to have fun. If you’re worried about kinks in your swing or looking to improve, take a professional golf lesson, a specialty here at Woodloch. Golf instruction starts at just $25. For those shooting in the 70s and below: first of all, way to go; second of all, bring your “A” game because the tee shots are lengthy and challenging. For everyone else, there are four tee locations on each hole so know your skill level before arrival. Always remember to bring golf clubs, a golf glove, an umbrella or coat (in case of rain), and an appetite!

Enjoy Post-Round Libations

After a relaxing round of golf, slip into the Woodloch Springs Grille Room for fine cuisine and drinks. The Grille Room has spectacular views of holes 9 and 18, delicious scallops, salmon, and steak, and refreshing specialty martinis. Our seasonal outdoor seating is a must in the summer.

Best Poconos Resorts for Couples

After a memorable afternoon of golf and an evening of dinner and drinks, head back to your sensational Woodloch Springs home, the golf course community. Seek out a two-bedroom Cedar vacation rental, and you’ll understand why we’re one of the best Poconos resorts for couples. Cap off the night with a beverage on your private deck. A golf getaway has never been this relaxing, luxurious, and accessible.

A Look into the PGA Professionals Tournament Through the Eyes of Woodloch's Director of Golf | Woodloch Resort

The PGA Professionals Tournament Through The Eyes of John Pillar

~Shared by Chase Borden

I had the pleasure to sit down with the Director of Golf at Woodloch Springs, John Pillar, and discuss his experiences at the PGA Professional National Championship held last week at Philadelphia Cricket Club.

As the President of the Philadelphia Section for the PGA of America, John had the privilege to represent as the host section and compete in the event. John explained in an interview with Phil Blackmar what an honor it was to represent the section in the tournament. John also mentioned to me what an honor it was to represent his home course of Woodloch Springs.

John made the cut to the top 70 and finished 58th in the country and credits some of his success to gearing up his game at Woodloch Springs, which has very similar green conditions to Philiadelphia Cricket Club.  “Many of the green complexes are of similar difficulty, which helped me when I needed to recover for pars.”

John had a difficult schedule approaching the event. He had to sneak in practice time between our Folds of Honor Golf Tournament and his eldest son’s high school graduation. With all of this on his plate, he still made us very proud at Woodloch Resort by putting on an incredible performance. John said that he credits his success in the tournament to the practice he put in on Woodloch’s difficult course, some one on one sessions with Woodloch’s new Director of Instruction Jason Kuiper, and of course to his NIKEGOLF gear, which you will always see him sporting around the golf club.

If you are familiar with John Pillar, you know he is a huge family man, and it turns out his family played a large role in his successful round. While trying to get back into the mix on the second day on hole 7, John’s family members were watching as he hit a shot to 1‘ and then realized his oldest son had driven 2.5 hours to watch and support his father in hopes he would climb the leaderboard, which he did.  This was an emotional time during the round, and it spurred John on to a couple more birdies and into contention. “ I didn’t realize he was even there until he whistled to me, and it brought tears to my eyes at a critical time of the round.”

Finally John had the opportunity to be on The Golf Channel for the segment The Golf Fix with Michael Breed. On this segment John Pillar gave insight as to how he hones in his short game consistency. This was a very appropriate time for such an interview because Woodloch has just announced the development of its very own  Woodloch Golf Academy. The segment gives a sneak-peak at some of the things you can learn in upcoming events from the academy.
