A Guide to Halloween Events in the Poconos

There’s no shortage of family-friendly Halloween events in and around our Poconos resort. To help you plan your visit, we’ve compiled a list of must-visit experiences.

  • Book your tickets on The Stourbridge Line’s Pumpkin Patch Express Boo Bash. The one-day event at the end of October features a scenic train ride to a pumpkin patch where kids can pick a pumpkin to bring home.
  • If you’re feeling brave, head out into the woods for a Haunted Walk. The annual tradition makes its return with new tricks and scares. We do not recommend this activity for children under 10.
  • Our popular Olympics take on a seasonal twist with the Halloween Olympics. This favorite family activity will have you working together to see which team comes out on top.
  • Be sure to pack the costumes! We will host a variety of costume parties throughout the season.
  • Another spooky spectacle is the ghost tour through Honesdale. Your guided outing will start at the Wayne Country Library and travel along North Main Street to some of the most haunted spots in town. This activity is not recommended for younger children.

For even more fun, check out our tentative schedules to see what other happenings might be on deck!

How to Experience the Flavors of Fall at Woodloch

A woman with a basket of apples, one of the top flavors of fall.

When you think of fall, certain things probably come to mind, like crisp air, changing leaves, and pumpkin patches. You may also associate certain flavors with the season. From pumpkin spice to apples and cinnamons, the flavors of fall are delicious. For travelers visiting Woodloch during the autumn months, there are several ways to taste the season, both on and off-site.

Visit Pennsylvania Orchards

One of the most quintessential fall activities is visiting apple orchards. There are two incredible options within a 30-minute drive of the resort, making them great additions to an autumn escape.

Stop by the farm stand at Ostrander’s Orchard in nearby Beach Lake to purchase crisp apples and fresh-pressed cider. You can also get other fall treats like jams and maple syrup. The stand is open seasonally from about Labor Day through Thanksgiving, but we recommend calling before heading over to check their hours.

Another great option is Rickard’s Cider Mill in Honesdale. Since 1929, this family farm has been producing incredible cider. Their season usually runs from late September through early November. In addition to cider, you can also find gourds, honey, pumpkins, and apples.

Try Seasonal Offerings at Our Poconos Resort

An easy way to try autumn flavors is by stopping by in one of our three dining rooms. All menus change daily, and dishes are created using as many regionally grown products as possible. This means our talented chefs use ingredients that are in season for everything from filling entrees to decadent desserts.

Learn how to make popular recipes yourself by reserving your space for one of our cooking demonstrations. Menus for the mid-week event reflects the season, so be sure to check back for updates on our fall offerings.

Create Your Own Fall Flavors in Your Poconos Rental

You can enjoy the flavors of fall from the comfort of your accommodations at Woodloch. Stop by The Market at Woodloch, one of our other on-site dining and food options, to get all you need to create spiced cider or a pumpkin roll. Any ingredients you can’t find at the market are easily found at nearby grocery stores.

To start planning your fall getaway to our all-inclusive Pennsylvania resort, check our availability and special offers. For questions or help booking your stay, call 570-685-8000, option 1.

Discover Fall Foliage on Hikes to Pennsylvania Waterfalls

One of the waterfalls in the Poconos region of Pennsylvania .

Tucked away in the Pocono Mountains, Woodloch is surrounded by breathtaking views and incredible examples of Mother Nature’s beauty. These picturesque sights are made even more stunning when they take on their fall hues. There are numerous ways to take in the fall foliage during an autumn escape at our Poconos resort, including visiting nearby Pennsylvania waterfalls.

A Checklist of 5 Waterfalls to Explore

As cooler temperatures start to settle in, leaves begin to change to golden and amber hues. While peak foliage season can vary year to year, most trees start to transform around mid-September before reaching their peak around early October. The best way to keep an eye on where foliage levels are is by looking at a fall foliage forecast.

There are several waterfalls within a short drive from our all-inclusive resort. We highly recommend adding one or a few spots to your leaf-peeping itinerary.

  1. Found inside Promised Land State Park is Little Falls. The 1.4-mile loop trail starts near the Lower Lake dam and features several creek waterfalls along the way. You can access the other side of the creek via a footbridge.
  2. Another popular option is Shohola Falls, which is visible as you make your way along the .6-mile loop trail. Thanks to its shorter distance, this is an excellent option for anyone visiting with younger children.
  3. Make your way to one of the two observation platforms to take in the three cascades that makeup Raymondskill Falls. This is the tallest waterfall in the state and features a trail that takes you to the top of the falls.
  4. Give yourself plenty of time to explore Bushkill Falls. Nicknamed the “Niagra of Pennsylvania,” this area is home to eight waterfalls, all of which are visible when you hike the Red Trail. For a shorter hike, walk along the Green Trail to view the Main Falls.
  5. Start at the on-site visitors center in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and walk along the boardwalk trail to Dingmans Falls. Make your way up the staircase to the upper falls for a birdseye view.

Plan a Picture-Perfect Poconos Getaway

Booking your stay with Woodloch means you have everything you need to unwind after a day of leaf-peeping at waterfalls near our Pennsylvania resort. Enjoy a delicious meal as part of your dining plan before catching one of our entertaining shows.
