5 Places to Visit in or near the Poconos

Between state parks and nearby towns, there’s no shortage of places to visit when staying at our Poconos family resort.

  1. It takes roughly 30 minutes to reach Promised Land State Park. This popular attraction is home to miles of hiking trails that take you through forests filled with oak, maple, beech, and hemlock trees. The lake is also known for being a great fishing or kayaking spot.
  2. Located in Lake Ariel, the Lacawac Sanctuary Field Station and Environmental Education Center was founded in 1966. Consisting of 550 acres and several historic buildings, this spot is home to over nine miles of trails that take you through wetlands and woods.
  3. It’s only about a 30-minute drive to reach nearby Honesdale, which is known as the birthplace of the American railroad. Take in views of the town by hiking up Irving Cliff, or go for a ride on The Stourbridge Line.
  4. Beach Lake is home to fun for the entire family. One of the biggest reasons to visit this town is to spend a day at the Carousel Water Park. Cool off on water slides or bumper boats. There is also a go-kart track, mini-golf course, and more.
  5. The longest drive on this list is the town of Scranton, which takes a little over an hour. However, the drive is worth it once you discover the variety of things to do and see. Visit one of the numerous museums, such as the Everhart Museum or Steamtown National Historic Site.
