A Checklist of the Outdoor Activities to Do in the Poconos

Someone playing disc golf, one of the best outdoor activities in the Poconos.

One thing that’s in no short supply on a Poconos vacation to Woodloch is adventure. The popular family resort in Hawley is surrounded by endless things to do and see, including countless options right at our resort. In fact, some of the best outdoor activities in the Poconos are either found right at our resort or in the surrounding area. Keep reading to learn about some of the ways you can have fun while enjoying Mother Nature’s beauty.

7 Things to Do in the Great Outdoors in the Poconos

From going for a peaceful paddle to hiking along a stunning trail, there’s a little bit of everything to enjoy in the Pocono Mountains. To help you plan your adventures, we’ve made a list of seven of our favorite outdoor activities.

  1. Spend a day wandering a local hiking trail. In addition to our own paths, you can also explore trails at Prompton State Park and Promised Land State Park.
  2. Book a tee time at our championship golf course. Woodloch Springs is a par-72 course that winds its way over 6,000 yards. Be sure to take in the beauty of Hells Gate Gorge at hole 14.
  3. For another type of golf, try your hand at disc golf. Our course features nine holes and covers almost a half mile of terrain. In addition to pickup games, we host tournaments throughout the year.
  4. Combine bumper cars with water, and you get bumper boats. The seasonal activity is a family favorite. Team up to soak other people, or use the hydro cannon to enjoy a bit of friendly rivalry with family or friends.
  5. Go for a scenic hayride. Whether taking in the beauty of spring, the colors of fall, or wandering a winter wonderland, this ride along our nature trail is one of the best ways to take in the property’s beauty.
  6. Learn about Woodloch while taking in breathtaking views on a scenic boat tour. Our friendly skippers will take you on a relaxing cruise to explore the furthest reaches of Lake Teedyuskung.
  7. While not fully outdoors, going for a ride on The Stourbridge Line is a memorable way to enjoy the beauty of the Great Outdoors. This local attraction offers several different excursions from March through the holiday season.

Woodloch | One of the Best Pocono Mountain Golf Resorts

People on a course at one of the best Pocono Mountains golf resorts.

It’s never too early to plan your next golf-centric vacation. For any group looking to enjoy stunning views and challenging holes, there’s no better place to book your trip than Woodloch Springs. Available to guests at Woodloch and The Lodge at Woodloch, two phenomenal Pocono Mountain resorts, this golf club has been nationally recognized for a reason. However, what sets our Poconos golf course and club apart from others? Keep reading to find out!

A Championship Level Course

Our course truly offers some of the best golfing in the Pocono Mountains and beyond. In fact, GOLF Magazine named the par 72 course one of the finest courses in the country. All holes have four sets of tees and alternating pine placements, which means golfers of all skill levels can find a setup that works for them. Our signature 14th hole requires a 220-yard carry-over, “Hells Gate Gorge,” carved from the mountainside by rushing water.

Ability to Improve Your Game

A golf getaway is also the perfect time to hone your skills. We have two incredible ways of doing just that. Our indoor golf simulator allows you to play nine or eighteen holes even if Mother Nature puts a damper on your plans. There are a number of courses available, so you can play spots you may otherwise never be able to.

One of the best ways to become a better golfer is with our golf academy. Ensure you are using the right clubs with our club fitting. Learn from one of our knowledgeable and talented golf pros with a private lesson.

Memorable Tournaments

If you’re trying to figure out when to plan your vacation, consider timing your stay to coincide with one of our tournaments. We host several charity outings, tournaments, clinics, and pro-ams all season long. Whether hoping to participate or simply be a spectator, these events are the perfect main attraction of any golf getaway.

Folds of Honor & More | Giving Back to the Community

A military member on the golf course during a tournament, one of the ways Woodloch is giving back to the community.

The holiday season is often considered one of the most magical times of the year. From festive events to gift-giving to spending time with family, there are endless reasons why people love this season. However, this time of year is also about giving back. However, at Woodloch and The Lodge at Woodloch, we are committed to giving back to the community year-round. Keep reading to learn more about our charitable partnerships.

What to Know About Our Different Partners

We are proud to partner with four incredible organizations, each dedicated to helping the Poconos community and beyond.

Folds of Honor

The Folds of Honor Foundation strives to give back to spouses and children of soldiers disabled or killed in service. Through annual educational scholarships, the organization helps support tutoring, private education tuition, educational summer camps for kindergarten through 12th-grade kids, and higher education tuition assistance. Every year, we host the Folds of Honor Golf Classic at Woodloch Springs. So far, it has helped raise over one million dollars! Stay tuned for information about the next golf fundraiser.

For Pete’s Sake

For Pete’s Sake was created to help create respite experiences for cancer patients, their loved ones, and caregivers. These experiences give patients and their loved ones a chance to strengthen their relationships and recognize that cancer does not define them. We are honored to help provide families with opportunities to come together for those experiences. Our property will also be the site of the For Pete’s Sake Respite Center, which will offer transformational respite experiences.

Delaware Highlands Conservancy Green Lodging Partnership

Our resort is a proud Green Lodging partner. Through their reservations, our guests contribute to the Delaware Highlands Conservancy. This means our guests are directly supporting the protection of clean waters, recreational opportunities, and healthy land. Every bill paid during checkout includes a $3 donation to this initiative to help preserve the stunning area we call home.

BK Hope Cures

Conceived in 1999, BK Hope Cures strives to create hope for cancer patients. Founded by a cancer survivor, this organization raises funds to benefit cancer research and patient care. Our Poconos golf course is the site of the annual BK Invitational Golf Tournament. The two-day event includes golfing, a cocktail party, and dinner. We also host other events in conjunction with the foundation, including a 5K in June and BK Hope Cures Tricky Tray: A Night for the Cure.

Experience the Woodloch Difference for Yourself

At Woodloch and The Lodge at Woodloch, we are committed to being there for not only our guests but also the Poconos region and beyond. This is why we team up with organizations that are also committed to giving back to the community. Call 570-685-8000 to learn more about our partnerships and how you can help us give back.
