Where to Go Biking in the Poconos

Guests at The Lodge at Woodloch have access to both guided mountain bike sessions and self-guided rides along the nature trails. However, where do you go if you feel like exploring off-site? There are several spots near both of our Pennsylvania resorts that are perfect for a biking adventure.

Promised Land State Park is home to several multi-use trails, both dirt and gravel. The terrain is mostly flat and rolling, making it suitable for both mountain bikes and hybrids.
The Lackawaxen River Trail is a relatively flat, rail-trail that runs along the Lackawaxen River. This path is great for families and relaxed cycling adventures.
Prompton State Park is an excellent option for mountain biking. With 26 miles of trails, there are paths for beginner riders and those with advanced skills.
For experienced mountain bikers, make the drive to Eales Preserve at Moosic Mountain. While this is the farthest spot on the list, it has over 15 miles of technical trails, making the extra drive time worth it.
The Delaware State Forest is a large area with plenty of unpaved forest roads perfect for mountain biking. Because this area is less trafficked, you’re more likely to have the rugged trails to yourself.

What to Do on a Poconos Summer Vacation

There’s no better way to reconnect and spend quality time together as a family than on a Poconos summer vacation at Woodloch. Day 1

How much you can do on your first day, depending on when you arrive. After checking in and dropping your bags off in your well-appointed room, enjoy a delicious meal in one of our three dining rooms. We recommend going to bed early this first night so you’re well-rested for a full day of fun.

Day 2

7 Things to Do in the Great Outdoors in the Poconos

For another type of golf, try your hand at disc golf. Our course features nine holes and covers almost a half mile of terrain. In addition to pickup games, we host tournaments throughout the year.
Combine bumper cars with water, and you get bumper boats. The seasonal activity is a family favorite. Team up to soak other people, or use the hydro cannon to enjoy a bit of friendly rivalry with family or friends.

What to Know About This Poconos Train Ride

The Stourbridge Line is perhaps one of the most popular attractions near our Poconos resort. The railroad got its start back in the 1800s, and the track where you board the train was once part of the Delaware & Hudson Honsedale branch trackage. Today, the train offers several regular and special event train rides from March through the holiday season.

The Poconos Express is an hour-and-a-half ride that departs from Honesdale. During the ride, you will travel to the outskirts of Hawley as you enjoy the natural beauty of the Northern Pocono Mountains.
Enjoy a delicious meal by booking the Dinner Train. Go for a scenic ride along the Lackawaxen River while dining on a three-course meal.
If you are staying with us during the fall, book a seat on the Pocono Foliage Express. This round-trip excursion from Honesdale along the Lackawaxen River offers some of the best views of the changing foliage.
The Santa Christmas Tree Express is a popular outing during the holiday season. The unique experience includes visiting Santa and other special, seasonal activities. You have your choice of departing from Honesdale or Hawley.
