Stay Warm | Things to Do Indoors in the Poconos

Kids going down the slide at a playground, one of the best things to do indoors at our Poconos resort.

When the snow starts to fall, the Pocono Mountains region turns into a winter wonderland. However, even the most winter-loving person needs a break from the cold every once in a while. For guests at Woodloch, there are plenty of fun things to do indoors in the Poconos. This means even when the layers come off, you can still create unforgettable memories.

11 Indoor Poconos Activities

Whether enjoying the plethora of things to do at our Poconos resort or venturing off-property, there’s no shortage of things to do inside.

  1. Head to downtown Hawley to stock up on sweet treats from Penny Land Candies & Candles.
  2. Plan a day trip to Scranton to visit the Everhart Museum, the region’s only natural history, art, and science museum.
  3. For indoor fun that still has you surrounded by breathtaking views, go for a ride with The Stourbridge Line.
  4. Visit other museums in the area, like the Zane Grey Museum or Dorfliger-Suydam.
  5. Put your decorating skills to the test with family-friendly Bake Wars, where you’re up against others to decorate a cake while following a theme.

  8. Our Woodloch Forest Indoor playground is a great spot to let your kids burn off some energy.

Spend a Snowy Day at Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain

A family skiing at Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain.

There’s no shortage of things to do on a Woodloch vacation. That list of adventures grows even longer when snow starts to fall. For anyone planning a winter getaway, it won’t take long to discover the wealth of adventure that awaits you. If you’re staying with us this winter, leave room in your itinerary to visit Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain. This nearby attraction is filled with fun for the whole family.

What to Know About Visiting Ski Big Bear

It only takes about 15 minutes to reach Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain, which typically opens for the season in December. This means you can spend more time on the slopes and less time driving between our Poconos family resort and the popular attraction. This spot is the ideal place to visit if you’re looking to enjoy quintessential winter activities like skiing and snow tubing.

We recommend purchasing your lift tickets as soon as you know when you’ll be visiting. Kids under five will receive a complimentary ticket with a paying adult. There are two different types of tickets. One is all access, which gives you access to any lift and all open trails. There are also beginner tickets, which provide access to the Magic Carpet and Sun Kid lifts and the easiest terrain trails. Snow tubing tickets are a separate purchase and are available on weekends and holiday periods.

You can also reserve your rental equipment ahead of time. Because this is available on a first-come, first-served basis, we highly recommend purchasing your rental equipment when you purchase your lift tickets.

When you arrive for your day on the mountain, you have 18 trails, seven lifts, and three Magic Carpet lifts at your disposal. Trails range from easy to double black diamond runs. This means there is something for every skill level. Before leaving our resort, check out the trail conditions report to see what is open and available that day.

Start Planning Your Poconos Winter Vacation

The snow will start falling before you know it, which makes now the ideal time to plan your winter vacation to Woodloch. Our Poconos resort is close to top attractions like Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain. It’s also home to plenty of winter fun, including Winter Olympics and Festival of Lights.

The first step in planning your visit to our winter wonderland is checking out what is included in our all-inclusive experience. You’ll have your choice of one of our well-appointed accommodations and dining plans. For more information or help reserving your stay, call 570-685-8000.
