The popular family resort in Hawley is surrounded by endless things to do and see, including countless options right at our resort. In fact, some of the best outdoor activities in the Poconos are either found right at our resort or in the surrounding area. 7 Things to Do in the Great Outdoors in the Poconos

From going for a peaceful paddle to hiking along a stunning trail, there’s a little bit of everything to enjoy in the Pocono Mountains. To help you plan your adventures, we’ve made a list of seven of our favorite outdoor activities.

  1. Spend a day wandering a local hiking trail. In addition to our own paths, you can also explore trails at Prompton State Park and Promised Land State Park.
  2. Book a tee time at our championship golf course. Woodloch Springs is a par-72 course that winds its way over 6,000 yards. Be sure to take in the beauty of Hells Gate Gorge at hole 14.
  3. For another type of golf, try your hand at disc golf. Our course features nine holes and covers almost a half mile of terrain. In addition to pickup games, we host tournaments throughout the year.
  4. Combine bumper cars with water, and you get bumper boats. The seasonal activity is a family favorite. Team up to soak other people, or use the hydro cannon to enjoy a bit of friendly rivalry with family or friends.
  5. Go for a scenic hayride. Whether taking in the beauty of spring, the colors of fall, or wandering a winter wonderland, this ride along our nature trail is one of the best ways to take in the property’s beauty.
  6. Learn about Woodloch while taking in breathtaking views on a scenic boat tour. Our friendly skippers will take you on a relaxing cruise to explore the furthest reaches of Lake Teedyuskung.
  7. While not fully outdoors, going for a ride on The Stourbridge Line is a memorable way to enjoy the beauty of the Great Outdoors. This local attraction offers several different excursions from March through the holiday season.

Cast Your Line Fishing on a Pocono Mountains Vacation

Sometimes, there’s no better way to spend your day than out on the water. For anyone planning their next getaway to Woodloch, there are several ways to explore the beauty of the Poconos from the water, like kayaking excursions and boat tours. For a fun yet relaxing adventure on your Pocono Mountains vacation, cast your line fishing.

Where to Go Fishing in Pennsylvania

Before you decide which of the incredible local waterways to fish in, it’s important you make sure you have a valid fishing license. These are required for anglers ages 16 and up, and you can purchase them online before your visit.

When deciding where to cast your line, there are several excellent options.

  • Our Poconos Resort is found on the shores of Lake Teedyuskung. We even have docks scattered on our lakefront that are the perfect place to settle in with your rod. These waters are ideal for catching perch, pike, walleye, bass, and sunfish.
  • Another great close option is Lake Wallenpaupak, which covers 5,700 acres. What you might find on the end of your line depends on what end of the lake you’re fishing. The northern end is known for walleye and a few types of bass, while the southern end is home to largemouth bass and bluegill. You can also find calico and perch in the middle area.
  • If you’re looking to catch trout, head to Promised Land Lake. The 422-acre spot is home to brook, rainbow, and brown trout. Other fish species found here include sunfish, catfish, and large and smallmouth bass.

Let Guides Show You Around

You don’t have to set out on a fishing adventure on your own! One of the best ways to increase your chances of reeling in a big one is by letting a Poconos fishing guide show you around. There are several knowledgeable guides to book through, including Ray’s Fishing Guide Service and Hooked Up Guide Service.
