The Best Time to Visit the Poconos | A Seasonal Guide

A woman snowtubing during winter, considered a best time to visit the Poconos.

The Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania are one of the East Coast’s most beloved year-round vacation destinations. For years, families have made Woodloch their preferred home base. However, what is the best time to visit the Poconos and our resort? The answer really depends on what type of activities you’re looking to enjoy on your vacation.

Families with kids and those who love outdoor adventures will love staying with us in summer and fall. If you’re hoping for a quieter escape, book your stay in spring and fall. Keep reading to learn more about what you can do at our Poconos resort throughout the year to help you find the best season for you.

Winter

When the snow starts to fall, the Poconos turn into a winter wonderland. Explore our snow-covered grounds on snowshoeing adventures, or feel the thrill of our snow tubing hill. Enjoy seasonal activities like our Winter Olympics or Yule Log hunt. Warm up by the fire, or check out some of our indoor fun.

Spring

Spring is a quieter, more peaceful time to visit. See wildflowers and waterfalls like Shohola Falls come to life. Go hiking at Big Pocono State Park, or explore the on-site trails. Spring break is a great time for a family vacation if you’re hoping to avoid the large summer crowds.

Summer

Summer is the perfect time to visit if you’re looking to enjoy a classic mountain lake vacation. Go swimming, paddleboarding, or fishing on Lake Teedyuskung. Visit the animals that call the Claws ‘N’ Paws Wild Animal Park home. Enjoy a picnic lunch on our grounds or at Prompton State Park. No summer vacation is complete without ice cream from Harry’s Lakeside Scoops, our on-site ice cream shop.

Fall

If summer is the most popular time to visit, then fall is arguably the most picturesque season. Brilliant foliage transforms this region, making it a great time for nature lovers and photographers to visit. Discover Mother Nature’s beauty right on our grounds, or go leaf-peeping at nearby spots like Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Lodge at Woodloch | A Pennsylvania Resort Rooted in Sustainability

A sign for a farm at a resort in Pennsylvania that helps their sustainability efforts.

Nestled in the scenic beauty of the Pocono Mountains rests The Lodge at Woodloch. This sister property to Woodloch is known for providing couples and other groups with a peaceful escape. Our resort isn’t just a place to unwind; it’s a place where luxury meets conscious living. This is why an integral part of the mission at our Pennsylvania resort is sustainability. Keep reading to learn more about how we help guests enjoy a rejuvenating escape while making a positive impact on the environment.

Sustainable Sourcing

One of the standout sustainability features at our Poconos resorts is the farm-to-table connection. Found only about a 10-minute walk from us, you’ll find the Blackmore Farm & Orchard. This spot provides a selection of vegetables and herbs for both our cooking demonstrations and dishes at TREE Restaurant. In addition, the garden provides items like rosemary and lavender for select spa treatments.

You can learn more about Blackmore by taking part in one of our gardening classes or Harvest Lunches and Garden Dinners. These seasonal chef-led tasting dinners and farmer-led harvest lunches actually take place at the Garden Shed.

Guest Participation & Amenities

Our guests also play a large role in our sustainability efforts. This is why we encourage guests to reuse towels and linens when possible. We provide reusable water bottles to both guests and staff. If you’re staying with us overnight, you’ll receive a reusable tote.

Waste-Reduction & Recycling

Throughout the years, we have instituted an array of practices to reduce waste. You’ll find large refillable bottles in the shower rather than small individual bottles, which helps us save over 50,000 bottles from landfills every year. We utilize compostable hot and cold cups, and have a composting program that uses food waste from three resorts to create fertilizer. We have a single-stream recycling program that helps us recycle cardboard, plastic, paper, and glass.

Learn More By Visiting Our Poconos Resort

The best way to learn more about how The Lodge at Woodloch in Pennsylvania is practicing sustainability is by seeing our practices for yourself. Book your stay in one of our luxurious, well-appointed guest rooms or suites. During your stay, you can enjoy an up-close look at how we strive to make our Poconos resort not only a premier destination for couples and groups looking to unwind but also an eco-friendly property. A Look at the Average Weather in Hawley, Pennsylvania

A father and kids looking up the weather in Hawley, Pennsylvania.

No matter the time of year, there’s no shortage of things to do during a Woodloch vacation. Found in the picturesque Poconos region, our all-inclusive resort is known for four seasons of fun. While there’s no bad time to stay with us, certain seasons might fit your ideal activities better. To help you plan when to book your stay, we’ve compiled a handy cheatsheet of what the weather in Hawley, Pennsylvania, looks like throughout the year.

Spring

From March through May, daily highs start to rise. On average, you can expect temperatures in the low-70s during the day, with lows dipping to the mid-50s. See Mother Nature start to come to life by spending a day at Big Pocono State Park.

Summer

Summer in the Poconos can only be described as idyllic. Daily highs rarely fall below 60 degrees and generally sit around the mid-70s. Even daily lows are pleasant! Cool off by going for a dip in local lakes like Lake Wallenpaupack, or relax around the fire pit swapping ghost stories.

Fall

The cooler temperatures of fall are what give our landscape its golden and amber hues. Daily highs decrease to the mid-40s, which means you can still spend time outdoors as long as you’re dressed appropriately. Take in breathtaking fall foliage by hiking to area waterfalls. We recommend Little Falls or Bushkill Falls.

Winter

If you love the cold and snow of winter, our resort is the place for you. Temperatures are cold enough for snow to fly without hitting subzero conditions. All of this means you can enjoy popular winter activities, like snow tubing down our hill or skiing at Ski Big Bear.

Experience the Beauty of the Poconos at Woodloch

No matter the weather when you visit Woodloch in Hawley, Pennsylvania, there are plenty of ways to have fun. Our resort features daily activity schedules tailored for each season. This means regardless of when you visit, there’s always something to do that the whole family will love.

As an all-inclusive resort, these activities and amenities are included in your stay. Most importantly, our all-inclusive packages come with spacious accommodations and delicious dining options. Start planning your next visit by reserving your stay today.
