Outdoor climbing wall.

Extreme Sports to Try This Fall at Woodloch

Tourists from all over the Northeast visit a secluded, beautiful 1,000-acre resort nestled deep in the heart of the Poconos for family fun, supreme relaxation, and extreme outdoor sports. That world-class family resort is Woodloch, the number one all-inclusive retreat in North America. We have over a dozen extreme onsite activities ideal for families with teens. Challenge yourself on the 30-foot climbing wall. Race through the Pennsylvania wilderness on a go-kart. Play an exhilarating game of survivor paintball. Or square off against family and friends influenced by dodgeball with “Archery Tag!’

Paintball Adventures

Depending upon who you ask, Woodloch’s paintball adventures are the most exhilarating activity on our grounds. We offer three distinct games: speedball, capture the flag, and survivor. Speedball is a two-team battle against the clock. The small field has various inflatable bunkers for strategic purposes. Capture the flag has become a popular variation of paintball where the rules are identical to the 150-year-old game. The winner of survivor paintball is the last person standing. Paintballers must be at least 11 years old to participate.

The Peak of Your Family Vacation

While you don’t have to be an experienced climber to conquer our 30-foot climbing wall, it is an extremely challenging structure that will test over a dozen muscles. Bring your “A” game because most intermediate climbers don’t make it five feet on their first try. If you’re able to reach the top of our steep tower, the views from the top are glorious – the perfect prize for reaching the peak! Climbers must weigh between 75 and 235 pounds.

Little Pocono Raceway

Woodloch Resort has two go-kart tracks that snake through the vast Pennsylvania wilderness. Our tracks aren’t nearly as exciting as the triangle at Pocono Raceway, one of the best super-speedways in the world, but our guests usually spend hours on the Little Pocono. The Pocono 400 is only 50 miles southwest of our woodland paradise! Jeff Gordon has won the Pocono 400 more than any other race car driver, which is why we have a replica DuPont #24 car at Little Pocono. Racers must be at least four feet tall to drive.

Pocono Mountains Resorts

With so many extreme outdoor sports, Woodloch Resort has become the number one all-inclusive family vacation in the Northeast. Spend your afternoons shooting, climbing, and racing, then indulge in a delicious dinner at one of our great restaurants. Find a deluxe guestroom, suite, or home that’s perfect for the whole family. A family escape to Woodloch is closer than you think. Visit our website today to learn more about our 65-year-old, family-run business!

Pocono Mountains Resorts | A Stunning Autumn Adventure to the Poconos

Keep up-to-date with all things Woodloch on our blog featuring exclusive recipes, heartwarming stories, lifestyle content, contests and more.

A Stunning Autumn Adventure to the Poconos

Summer break is nearly in the rearview mirror as classes begin in a handful of weeks (groan!). Luckily you can give the kids something to look forward to this autumn by planning a family adventure to Woodloch Resort. Our all-inclusive Pocono Mountains resorts bring families together with endless activities, breathtaking scenery, and world-class amenities thanks to our dedicated staff.

Witness a stunning mixture of kelly green, amber orange, straw yellow, and brick red by exploring our 1,000-plus acres of Pennsylvania wilderness or by embarking on a scenic drive through the glorious Pocono countryside. Take a breather from your hectic city life and give the kids a short break from their schoolwork with an autumn escape to Woodloch’s premier Pocono Mountains resorts.

Best Scenic Drives in the Poconos

It’s rather easy to find a beautiful autumn road because the entire Pocono region offers stunning drives through mountains and valleys. Journey through the Pennsylvania mountain wilderness with a trip on these three nearby routes, all of which are minutes from our family-friendly Pocono Mountains resorts. Grab a delicious, freshly roasted coffee and a fresh homemade muffin from Gigi’s Coffee House then pack the kids in the car for an unforgettably colorful trip.

Route 507

Pick up Route 507 in Wilsonville, two miles south of Hawley. Route 507 twists and turns on the southern side of beautiful Lake Wallenpaupack, the third largest lake in Pennsylvania. This route is a tranquil lake drive with stunning vistas of the sapphire blue lake and the colorful hillside.

Route 402

If you’re planning on visiting the Delaware Water Gap, home to one of the best autumn overlooks on the East Coast, head south on Route 402. This sequestered route cuts through the Poconos countryside with only two towns on a 40-mile stretch of mountain road. Route 402 also runs through the heart of the Delaware State Forest, a lush wooded wonderland. Bushkill Falls, one of the most beautiful chains of waterfalls in the country, is a short detour from the Delaware Water Gap.

U.S. Route 6

If you’re visiting Woodloch Resort from the New York City area, we recommend embarking on a small detour by picking up U.S. Route 6 in Milford. Take U.S. 6 all the way to White Mills before backtracking to our Lake Teedyuskung haven. This highway, which stretches all the way to California, is considered one of the Top Scenic Routes in America. The town of Milford is a scenic hill city with engrossing history, eclectic shopping, and beautiful Poconos vistas.

Pocono Mountains Resorts

There’s never a dull moment at Woodloch Resort thanks to the staff’s tireless efforts and our jam-packed daily itineraries. The whole family will love the onsite hayrides pulled by two of our beautiful, white horses. Stroll down our mile-long paved nature trail or play a round of golf in the breathtaking Poconos countryside at Woodloch Springs. Woodloch’s Pocono Mountains resorts are conveniently located within driving distance of New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Boston. Book an unforgettable autumn adventure that the whole family can appreciate in the scenic Pocono Mountains!

Best Poconos Resorts for Couples | 3 Tips for Golfing at Woodloch Resort

Woodloch’s Blog

Keep up-to-date with all things Woodloch on our blog featuring exclusive recipes, heartwarming stories, lifestyle content, contests and more.

3 Tips for Golfing at Woodloch

You’re only a scenic two-hour drive away from an unforgettable mountainside golf getaway at Woodloch Resort, one of the best Poconos resorts for couples. Golf is a game of inches. For most, it takes years of practice to master the art of the swing. The most important thing to remember when playing a round of golf at The Country Club at Woodloch Springs is to have fun! To make your Pennsylvania trip more enjoyable, we have some helpful tips to consider when traveling to breathtaking Woodloch.

Wear Suitable Golf Attire

Golf attire is unmistakable even if you’re not an avid golfer. Golfers don’t wear slick pants, comfy collared short tees, visors, sunglasses and spiked shoes for nothing. Each article plays a vital role in maximizing your level of play and comfort while keeping your body cool and protected from the sun. It’s recommended to wear golf pants and shoes. These pants are flexible and keep out moisture. The shoes have small spikes to keep you grounded when you’re bending, twisting and swinging. You’ll want to sport a dry-fit, breathable, collared short tee. Regular cotton on a hot day will stick to your body, limiting full motion. Sunglasses, visors, and sunscreen are a must on sunny days as spending 4-6 hours in the sun can be straining on your retinas and skin.

Bring the Essentials

Now that you’re dressed for success let’s discuss what to bring along. Bringing the right attitude is #1. Golf is a challenging game. It can take a toll on both the body and mind. Be prepared to miss a short putt, shank a chip shot, and duff a drive—this is normal; we’re not on the PGA Tour. Remember to have fun. If you’re worried about kinks in your swing or looking to improve, take a professional golf lesson, a specialty here at Woodloch. Golf instruction starts at just $25. For those shooting in the 70s and below: first of all, way to go; second of all, bring your “A” game because the tee shots are lengthy and challenging. For everyone else, there are four tee locations on each hole so know your skill level before arrival. Always remember to bring golf clubs, a golf glove, an umbrella or coat (in case of rain), and an appetite!

Enjoy Post-Round Libations

After a relaxing round of golf, slip into the Woodloch Springs Grille Room for fine cuisine and drinks. The Grille Room has spectacular views of holes 9 and 18, delicious scallops, salmon, and steak, and refreshing specialty martinis. Our seasonal outdoor seating is a must in the summer.

Best Poconos Resorts for Couples

After a memorable afternoon of golf and an evening of dinner and drinks, head back to your sensational Woodloch Springs home, the golf course community. Seek out a two-bedroom Cedar vacation rental, and you’ll understand why we’re one of the best Poconos resorts for couples. Cap off the night with a beverage on your private deck. A golf getaway has never been this relaxing, luxurious, and accessible.

Fall Foliage in the Poconos | Woodloch Resort

Woodloch’s Blog

Keep up-to-date with all things Woodloch on our blog featuring exclusive recipes, heartwarming stories, lifestyle content, contests and more.

Fall Foliage in the Poconos

It’s the end of September . . . that means we’re heading right into peak fall foliage season, which is the perfect time to get out and explore the Pocono Mountains. Book your stay at Woodloch this harvest season and enjoy the leaf peeping getaway you’ve always imagined!

Autumn here at Woodloch is inspirational! See the beauty of the landscape as the lush summer greens transform into warm undertones of vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges.

Did you know that Woodloch Resort is in the northern region of the Poconos? That means we get hit with peak foliage season first, before anyone else in the area! Prime time is the second week in October. Keep your eyes on the leaves as they change daily.

With over 127 different species of trees throughout the Pocono Mountains, you’ll soak up a large variety of colors. Some of the leaves that you’ll be able to spot far and wide are the Red Maples; you can’t miss their bright red coloring. Another red variety is the Sumac, which can turn from a gorgeous red to a dark mulberry this time of the year. Some Sugar Maple, Silver Maple, and Black Cherry trees transform into a stunning yellow while others remain a beautiful light green.

There are many different ways to experience the topography here at Woodloch.

  • Hit the road for a fun mid-day drive through the mountains
  • Lace up those boots for a hike and enjoy the canopy from below
  • Grab a paddle for a view from the lake
  • Head towards the sky for an amazing bird’s-eye view

Go for a drive; we recommend it! Route 6, Casey Highway, Route 29, Bear Lake, and Bear Creek Road are all wonderful areas in our region to see the foliage.

When you lace up your boots, you can hit the ground running. Head through trails and brush to experience the flora up close. Find your favorite leaf to bring home from your travels, or bring a guide book along on your trek and see how many trees you can spot changing color.

Before the weather turns chilly and the snow starts to fall, head out on the lake for one last kayak or canoe trip. You’ll see the wonderful fall colors as they dance across the blue waves. The contrast of oranges and blues make for a perfect photo opportunity!

If the land doesn’t intrigue you, hit the sky for an aerial view of the Pocono Mountains. Experience the thrill of the landscape from above as one colorful masterpiece.

Whether you choose the ground, the lake, or the sky as a means to view fall’s glory in the Pocono Mountains, just make sure you don’t miss out!

Find your picture-perfect fall moment this harvest season at Woodloch. We can’t wait to help you create some of your favorite memories!
