Seasons of CHANGE at Woodloch!

There’s something rather bittersweet about the end of summer.

The days get ever so slightly shorter, the nights just a smidge cooler, and at Woodloch, we bid adieu to many friends- seasonal workers and summer guests alike – until next year. However, along with the sunsets and the accompanying golden hue that paints the Pocono canopy, there is much to be anticipated as we transition into FALL at Woodloch!

Every year, we always hope for a little bit of a “slow burn” fall- after all, water skiing, swimming and sailing on our lake go straight through Columbus Day Weekend. That’s when the true fun of FALL begins!

October nights are famous, or should we say, INFAMOUS for our creepy crawly HAUNTED WALKS. The fun begins at the top of our trail- your 20 minutes of terror will snake through a dozen terrifying scenes from some of your favorite Halloween movies and lore. Costumed characters, blinding lights, booming pyrotechnics and more all add to the charm. You’ll laugh, maybe cry and scream on this rollercoaster of terror. Woodloch’s “Hallo-Weekends” bring our Boo-Lympic Family Games, Trick-Or-Treating, costume parties and more!

Crisp and cool days are just about perfect for that long-awaited corporate retreat. Get the team together for old fashioned team building, with “only at Woodloch” features like Boat Building, Minit-2-Win-It, Woodloch Feud and “The Ultimate Woodloch Games.” Autumn is also simply a superb time for late season golf at Woodloch Springs– not to mention the beauty of The Lodge at Woodloch!

Just like the season itself, the arrival of the holidays at Woodloch is just about as MAGICAL as it comes. Every year, just as the Thanksgiving leftovers are boxed up and the wishbones are cracked, Woodloch starts its (literally) overnight transition to Christmas. Our “elves” transform the resort’s indoor and outdoor décor to a full-on holly jolly spectacular. Black Friday culminates with our first heartwarming “Festival of Lights” illuminated wagon rides, which continue straight through New Years!

As the air grows ever colder, Woodloch fires up their famous red snow cannons to create a “Winter Wonderland” of our own! Over the course of a few weeks, we will shape tens of thousands of gallons of water into frosted peaks for use in our Winter Olympics and TWO snow tubing hills!

And thus, a new year of fun and adventure begins at our resort… enjoy it in all four seasons!

Top-Rated Poconos Getaway: The Best Times to Visit Woodloch

There’s never an offseason for good, old-fashioned family fun in the Pocono Mountains, especially here at Woodloch Resort, which is conveniently located only two hours from Manhattan. Regardless of the season, Woodloch provides every family with a one-of-a-kind Poconos getaway. Splash in Lake Teedyuskung under the warm Pennsylvania sunshine, hike through our pristine wilderness during autumn’s peak, and ski down the slopes at Masthope Mountain – the choice is yours! While it was challenging to choose just four of our favorite times to visit Woodloch, these specific occasions certainly stood out.

Autumn Midweeks

A Poconos getaway during autumn’s peak should be on everyone’s bucket list, which is why we urge families to avoid weekends during the leaf-peeping season’s pinnacle. Not only will you get to enjoy some of the most colorful foliage on the planet, but the roads will be practically empty. Autumn Midweeks are also one of the best deals on the East Coast as we offer outrageous savings for children six and under as well as teenagers. You’ll be able to combine fun Halloween-themed games and seemingly endless homegrown activities while appreciating the glorious combination of tiger orange, marigold, Tuscan yellow, and emerald in our lush forestry.

July & August

There’s no secret that July & August are the most popular months here at Woodloch Resort, as thousands of families from New York City flock to Hawley, PA, for a well-deserved, summertime, Poconos getaway. Many of our homegrown activities are centered around water during the summer months. Splash in one of our pristine pools, explore Lake Teedyuskung in a family-sized rowboat, and enroll in the Summer Olympics. One of the biggest perks of a midsummer Poconos getaway is that you can do just about anything!

Spooktacular Weekends

During select weekends in October, we transform our family resort into a Halloween-themed wonderland – we call them Spooktacular Weekends! Not only is the surrounding wilderness a colorful natural painting, but your family can hop aboard the world-famous Haunted Hayride, show off their costumes in the Halloween Parade, and even go trick or treating. Autumn is especially fantastic because you can still partake in home-grown outdoor activities but also enjoy the splendors of fall: leaf-peeping, s’mores, pumpkin-spiced lattes, and cozy sweater weather!

Ski & Stay

Earlier this winter, we detailed the incredible savings and value that comes with the Ski & Stay packages here at Woodloch Resort. There isn’t a better mid-week, wintertime, Poconos getaway available. With the Ski & Stay package, families can enjoy unlimited skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing at Ski Big Bear as well as two meals daily, countless on-site activities, and nightly live entertainment. Take a break from the slopes with ice skating, and the Winter Olympics. Woodloch is one of the best family resorts in North America because our team is dedicated to creating a warm, friendly, and exciting atmosphere which pairs perfectly with the Pocono Mountains’ beauty.

3-Day Vacation Ideas in the Pocono Mountains

Whether it’s summer, fall, winter, or spring, there’s a potential, once-in-a-lifetime, family getaway waiting for you in the serene Pocono Mountains. Coming up with 3-day vacation ideas for your next extended weekend getaway with the kids isn’t easy. You don’t want to spend too much time packed in a stuffy car, and you definitely don’t want to spend hours planning, preparing, and packing for just a three-day getaway. Not only does Woodloch Resort have countless on-site activities, inclusive meals, and daily schedules, but our 3-day extended stays are too inexpensive to pass up. Here are four, seasonal, 3-day vacation ideas, perfect for families, groups, and couples alike.

Snowy Winter Wonderland

Let’s start with the most affordable season of the year: the wintertime. As we detailed in a recent money-saving blog, 3-day extended stays from March through May are one of the cheapest times to visit Woodloch Resort. Winter escapes to Woodloch, in combination with alpine skiing at Big Bear at Masthope Mountain, are undeniably entertaining. We also have on-site snow tubing, and ice skating to go along with dozens of indoor activities.

Spring Fling in the Poconos

With New Year’s Eve in the rearview mirror, perhaps it’s time to start thinking about your next spring getaway to the Pocono Mountains. All 3-day vacation ideas should include ample time spent outdoors. After a winter spent shoveling, scraping, and slipping, you’ll want to explore Woodloch Resort’s 1,200 acres of lush forestry. Spring is the perfect season for go-karting, golfing, archery, rock climbing, and hiking.

Summertime Water Fun

Despite being the busiest season of the year here at Woodloch Resort, you’ll never have to wait in line to enjoy the sun-splashed glory of a Pennsylvania summer. Most of our visiting families take full advantage of the warm temperatures and sunny skies by swimming, water skiing, boating, and sunbathing at Lake Teedyuskung. We’re one of the only Pocono Mountains resorts to have our own private lake. Summer availability fills fast, so book now before it’s too late!

Colorful Autumn Foliage

It makes sense to have separate, seasonal, 3-day vacation plans because we’re a year-round family resort after all. We finish this list with the season of falling leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, cozy flannel, and, of course, Woodloch Resort’s famous Haunted Hayrides. The Pocono Mountains transform into a stunning mixture of kelly green, amber orange, straw yellow, and brick red every autumn. Spend your days fishing, driving, go-karting, rock climbing, and playing paintball before enjoying live entertainment from the region’s best comedians, magicians, and performers.

3-Day Weekend Getaways in PA

Woodloch, one of the best Poconos resorts, is just a scenic 96-mile drive from New York City, so you shouldn’t have to spend much more than two hours en route to get to our beautiful mountain escape. To learn more about our family-centric resort, give us a call today at 1-800-966-3562, or visit Woodloch.com to discover a 3-day package that perfectly suits your family.

Fall Fishing in the Poconos

Autumn is the best season of the year to spend a morning or afternoon with a line in Lake Teedyuskung. Anglers young and old are swept off their feet by our lake’s stunning foliage, the crisp autumn air, and the quick bite of a delicious walleye. Woodloch Resort rests on three genuinely breathtaking miles of Lake Teedyuskung shoreline. An all-inclusive family getaway to Woodloch has quickly become one of the top things to do in the Poconos. Among the dozens of homegrown family-friendly activities at Woodloch, fishing remains a popular option.

Lake Teedyuskung

Lake Teedyuskung is a pristine, spring-fed body of water with eight sizable species. Guests at Woodloch Resort are always a short walk from a leisurely afternoon of dock fishing or an in-depth excursion onto Lake Teedyuskung and the surrounding lakes, rivers, and creeks. Lake Teedyuskung is home to largemouth bass, walleye, pike, catfish, perch, pickerel, bluegill, and sunfish. You’ll have the opportunity to fish alongside local angling experts by enrolling in a free class or a lengthy excursion.

Lake Wallenpaupack

Fishing at Lake Wallenpaupack is among the top things to do in the Poconos because it covers over 5,700 acres and is home to 11 unique fish species. Anglers can launch from the Wilsonville Recreation Area, only ten miles from Woodloch Resort. This famous lake is teeming with smallmouth bass, striped bass, muskie, crappie, and brown trout. Much like Lake Teedyuskung, Wallenpaupack is surrounded by stunning foliage and active birdlife.

Nearby Fishing Excursions

You never know where you’ll end up on any given day. You may spend an afternoon on the Delaware or Lackawaxen Rivers or West Falls Creek.
